The 5-foot-9 running back from Murfreesboro, Tennessee is ranked the No. 76 overall player in the country by 247Sports. James, who plays at Oakland High School, is ranked as the No. 6 overall running back and the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee.
Tee Martin and Jay Graham are serving as the James’ primary recruiters. The Vols gave him his first scholarship offer in February 2019, and he has visited the Vols twice since October. James attended the Vols home game against Mississippi State and returned Jan. 30 for a midweek visit that allowed him to meet Graham after Graham was hired.
James rushed for 1,099 yards on 150 carries and scored 18 touchdowns in nine games with Brent Academy as a sophomore in 2019 before transferring to Oakland. As a junior with Oakland this year, James has already rushed the football for at least 100 yards in two separate games.
