Titans vs. Lions Game Preview

As the regular season draws to a close, the Titans will look to build momentum heading into the playoffs. This proves to be easier than most teams as their matchup against the Jaguars was an easy victory. The Jaguars totally rolled over during the game leading to an easy Titans victory. The line of this game depends solely on the status of Matthew Stafford. The line opened around eight points prior to the Stafford injury news. With him truly being questionable, the line has ballooned to eleven and could continue to rise.

The Titans defense is clearly their downfall. The struggle to compete defensively is going to be their undoing in the playoffs. Should they be unable to bring it defensively, we could expect an earlier exit. Derrick Henry continues to run wild however and should be able to bring it this weekend. The Lions rank near the bottom in the league in rushing defense. If Matthew Stafford plays, this game has all the makings of an offensive showdown.

NFL Week 15 Injury Report

Tennessee Titans

CB Adoree Jackson was a limited participant in practice and should be expected to play this week. He returned from the IR list last week in their win against the Jaguars.

OL Rodger Saffold is an important piece of their offensive line. He did not practice with an ailing toe injury. The hope is he is out there this week, he is as tough as they come.

S Kenny Vaccaro was a DNP on Wednesday with a non-COVID related illness. He does have a good shot to suit up this week.

Detroit Lions

DT Da’Shawn Hand DNP on Wednesday due to an ankle injury. He is a strong piece of their defensive line so he would be a tough loss for an already depleted Lions defense.

QB Matthew Stafford is the biggest injury question mark on the team with a rib and thumb injury. He might be the toughest quarterback we have seen in years. Stafford rarely misses games but appears to be truly questionable in this one.

WR Kenny Golladay has been out multiple weeks with a hip injury. He has not yet practiced this week. It is rather unlikely that he is out there for the remainder of the season.

AFC South Standings After Week 14

  • Tennessee Titans 9-4
  • Indianapolis Colts 9-4
  • Houston Texans 4-9
  • Jacksonville Jaguars 1-12

Implied Win Probability – Titans 84.85% Lions 18.52%

Implied win probability is a calculation to help bettors understand the percent chance their bet has of hitting. This is particularly useful in parlay betting when you will see vigs compound, increasing profitability for the sportsbook. Use an implied win probability for every parlay bet you place to keep in mind how much you are losing in vigs and odds. This is also an important stat in straight bets. Sharp bettors often are easily able to calculate this for straight bets.

In this game, the Titans are huge favorites against the Lions. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, they are -560 to win. This would place them at 84.85% chance to win the game. Conversely, the Lions are +440 to win. This would land them at 18.52% chance to win. By adding these together, you will learn that DraftKings Sportsbook is charging a 3.37% vig which is rather reasonable.

Sports Betting Trends

5 of last 7 Lions game have gone over; 4 of last 5 Titans games have gone over

Both of these teams are over machines. This bet really hinders on Matt Stafford’s availability. However, should Stafford be declared out, Chase Daniel is a capable replacement. At 51.5 I would be a little hesitant but if it climbed below 50, I would be very aggressive.

Derrick Henry dominates December football

Derrick Henry everything. That is what this game should be if the Titans stick to their gameplan of pounding the rock. Henry is an animal and can run over any of the Lions defenders at will. Expect Derrick Henry to go over all of the prop bets imaginable for this one.

DraftKings Best Bet: Over 51.5

Best Bet Record 7-3
