Tennessee Makes Top Three For Instate Defensive Lineman

Senior Bowl Practice Footage: February 1, 2022

Greenbrier defensive lineman Nathan Robinson released his top three college choices Tuesday night with the home state Vols making the cut.

SEC foes Ole Miss and Kentucky join Tennessee in the defensive lineman’s top group.

Robinson ranks as a high three-star on nearly every site and ranks as the nation’s 394th best player and the state of Tennessee’s No. 12 player in the 2023 class according to the On3 consensus rankings.

At 6-foot-5, 262 pounds, Robinson is between positions that he projects at for the next level. At his current weight, Robinson projects as an edge rusher but the Tennessee native has the build to add weight and play on the interior of the defensive line at the next level.

The Greenbrier High School standout has visited all three schools including both Kentucky and Ole Miss in 2022. Robinson visited Tennessee for the Georgia game in November, Ole Miss for the LSU game in October and Kentucky for the Florida game in October.

The three-star visited Tennessee twice last summer and Ole Miss once.

Rodney Garner and Alex Golesh are heading up the recruiting efforts for the talented defensive lineman according to 247sports. Garner — the Vols’ defensive line coach — is one of the best recruiters in the country and Golesh handles an abundance of Tennessee’s instate recruiting.

That in state recruiting was disappointing in the class of 2022 when the Vols landed just two players from Tennessee.

The Vols already have an instate commit in the 2023 class in Mt. Juliet offensive lineman Ayden Bussell. Landing another sought after mid state recruit would be a strong step for Josh Heupel and his staff.
