Celtics Aim To Upset Warriors In NBA Finals

Odds place the Warriors as favorites in the series that begins Thursday night in San Francisco. FanDuel lists Golden State’s series price at -160 against +135 for the Celtics, who seek a record 18th NBA title.

Boston has several factors in its favor. The Celtics have fought through not one, but two Game 7 battles and the team has a remarkably efficient offense and one of the NBA’s most tenacious defensive schemes. Six times in this year’s playoffs, the Celtics have held opponents under 100 points. Veteran Al Horford, who has finally made the Finals after a record 141 playoff games without doing so, is playing like a kid and logging more than 36 minutes per game, and hauling down nearly 10 boards per game. All hail, Old Guys!

In addition to Horford having a great series, another way in which the Celtics could score an upset is if leading scorer Jayson Tatum stays hot from 3-point range. If you think that’s possible, FanDuel has an intriguing NBA Finals prop bet. In 11 of the 17 postseason games for Boston, Tatum has made at least three 3-pointers. If he should do so in every game of the NBA Finals, you’d win $500 on a $100 bet.
