Tennessee Lands Eight Players on Reese’s Senior Bowl Watchlist

    by -

After finding four players in the 2021 Reece’s Senior Bowl watchlist last August, Tennessee has now doubled its output heading into the second year of the Josh Heupel era in Knoxville.

On Wednesday, the Reese’s Senior Bowl announced the selected players to its preseason watch list, including eight selections from the Tennessee football program. Tennessee has five representatives on the offensive side of the ball and three from the defensive side.

Tennessee’s eight Senior Bowl watchlist selections are as follows:

    Offense

    • Jerome Carvin, offensive lineman
    • Princeton Fant, tight end
    • Hendon Hooker, quarterback
    • Cedric Tillman, wide receiver
    • Darnell Wright, offensive lineman

    Defense

    • Jeremy Banks, linebacker
    • Trevon Flowers, defensive back
    • Byron Young, defensive lineman/linebacker

Tennessee had three participants in the 2021-2022 Senior Bowl this past February. Former Volunteers Cade Mays, Alontae Taylor, and Velus Jones Jr all went through the workouts in Birmingham, Alabama. Head coach Josh Heupel was also there to support his players in moving on to the next level.

Six of Tennessee’s eight Senior Bowl watchlist selections also made one of the All-SEC Coaches teams last week.

Tillman and Young were preseason coaches’ first-team All-SEC selections, while Hooker and Wright landed as second-team selections. Additionally, Banks and Flowers made the third-team list, along with Tennessee running back Jabari Small and punter Paxton Brooks.
