Tennessee safety Trevon Flowers played the second half of the Vols’ season with a broken hand, the senior shared on Twitter Wednesday morning.

Flowers referenced playing with a club on his head since week seven. Week seven was Tennessee’s win over Alabama but that was only the Vols’ sixth game of the season due to their early season open date. Flowers could have meant since Tennessee’s seventh game against UT Martin.

Of course, Flowers could have suffered the injury during practice or at an earlier date and the “week seven” game was the first he played with it.

While the exact date of the injury is unclear, Flowers likely has been playing with the broken hand since the Alabama or UT Martin game.

Flowers missed only one game with the injury— the Vols regular season finale against Vanderbilt. The super senior safety played in the first 11 games of the season where he totaled 57 tackles, two interceptions and one sack.

The senior finished second on the team in tackles and tied with cornerback Kamal Hadden for the most interceptions on the team. Flowers’ interceptions came against Pitt and LSU— both before he injured his hand and started playing with a club on his right hand.

The Georgia native earned a 60.2 PFF grade on the season with his highest grades coming against Pitt (73.3) and LSU (73.9) while his worst games came against Florida (48.6) and Kentucky (49.3).

Flowers hasn’t stated whether or not he would play in Tennessee’s bowl game but his post and unavailability in the Vanderbilt game indicates that he will not.

The Vols find their bowl destination Sunday afternoon.
