NFL Sunday Betting Preview

This NFL Sunday is a sports bettor’s dream. Multiple games will determine who gets into the playoffs, who does not, and who gets a first-round bye.

Green Bay Packers (-4.5) vs. Detroit Lions — Sunday, Jan. 8, 8:20 p.m. ET

This is one of the most exciting games scheduled for this Sunday. Both teams have had roller-coaster seasons that have led to this final showdown. As of now, they both have 8-8 records. If the Packers win, they’re in the postseason. If Seattle loses earlier Sunday, and the Lions beat the Packers, then the Lions are in.

The Packers are on a four-game winning streak. It’s hard to bet against Aaron Rodgers, but despite winning lately, his performances still have not lived up to the electrifying star level we once knew. Jared Goff, on the other hand, has been lights out for the Lions.

Winning in Lambeau Field in January is a tall task, but Goff and company may be too much for the Packers in this one. Consider taking the Lions on the Moneyline.

Miami Dolphins (-3) vs. New York Jets— Sunday, Jan. 8, 1 p.m. ET

The Dolphins have a legitimate chance at stealing the final AFC playoff spot if they secure this victory. Currently, the New England Patriots own the seventh and final seed, but they are scheduled to face off with the Buffalo Bills, who have a chance to win the No. 1 seed and secure a bye week.

The Dolphins have dropped five straight games to find themselves in this less-than-desirable situation. They will most likely be without starting QB Tua Tagovailoa and backup QB Teddy Bridgewater. The assumed starter as of now is rookie Skylar Thompson.

There is a good chance whoever starts for the Dolphins will struggle. The Jets have the second-best pass defense in the league based on yards per game, which will make moving the ball down the field challenging for either of the backup options.

The Jets’ offense will be able to do just enough to get by the explosive Dolphins’ receiver core. Due to injuries, the Jets’ moneyline has the potential to be a big winner come Sunday.
