Just like after the football game in Neyland Stadium, Dixieland Delight rained down in Thompson-Boling Arena after the Vols beat the Crimson Tide.

Just like football, Tennessee had beaten a top-five Alabama team for their best win of the season. And the fans in TBA knew it.

The Vols suffocating defense held Alabama’s high-powered offense to 59 points on 35 percent shooting, a new season-low point total for the Tide.

With starters Josiah-Jordan James and Julian Phillips out, multiple players stepped up for Tennessee. Sophomores Jahmai Mashack and Jonas Aidoo ramped up the pressure defensively, and Aidoo had a career night on the offensive end. The big man scored 12 points on 6-11 shooting and added 11 rebounds and three blocks to his impressive stat line. Aidoo’s performance served as his first career double-double.

Guards Zakai Zeigler and Santiago Vescovi turned in great performances as well. Both scored 15 points apiece, and Zeigler each hit three three-pointers.

Uros Plavsic was frequently effective as well for Tennessee, getting multiple physical buckets in the paint. The senior scored 10 points in only 13 minutes of play and didn’t miss a field goal.

After a pair of brutal losses last week, Tennessee bounced back in a major way Wednesday night and will look to get another impressive win Saturday against Kentucky in Rupp Arena.
