Joe Milton III… Josh Dobbs… Nico Iamaleava… Talk about an all-star competition, right?

On Wednesday morning, The Players’ Lounge posted a new video from the indoor Tennessee football training facility. The video featured VFL and Tennessee Titans quarterback Josh Dobbs as the host and a contestant for the throwing competition that was being set up.

Dobbs challenged the Tennessee quarterback room to a simple competition – Who can hit the goalpost from 35 yards out? Loser has to run a full-field sprint. Sounds easy enough.

The video shows starting quarterback Joe Milton hitting the horizontal bar first.

“I don’t like how he did that,” Dobbs said after. “I don’t like how he did that!”

On a side note… It would be hard to find an object that Milton couldn’t launch into the stratosphere. Remember when he fired off an orange across an entire football field before the Orange Bowl? Or when he heaved a basketball seemingly 50 rows into the stands from the halfcourt mark of Thompson-Boling Arena?

Dobbs was the next to plunk the crossbar. Tennessee quarterback Navy Shuler also looks to have hit the goalpost in the video, too.

Suspiciously, though, Iamaleava’s throws weren’t shown. That question seemed to have been answered a few seconds later.

As the video closes down, Iamaleava could be seen running down the field, indicating that he had lost the competition at hand. It also seems as though Milton (cutoff gray shirt, long black sweatpants) may have also been running with him.

While the 53-second video isn’t as much competitive content as the Tennessee fanbase may have been hoping for, it’s still a great look into some of the fun that is being held inside of the program during the offseason. It’s also good to see Tennessee continue to use its alumni and legend players as often as they can. Dobbs was brought out onto the court with head coach Josh Heupel during Tennessee’s mid-February win over No. 1 Alabama on the basketball court.

Spring ball is right around the corner, folks. Tennessee will officially begin spring camp on Mar. 20 before kicking off the Orange & White game on April 15, 2023.

  1. I am a Steeler fan and I always liked Dobbs. I would love to see Dobbs back. I do believe if Hadkins(RIP) had passed away a couple days earlier Dobbs might have signed back with the Steelers instead of the Briwns. But if the titans want to re sign Dobbs I think he will sign with the Titans. I wish him all the best no matter what he is a great guy.
