SEC Tournament Odds: Top Two Seeds Square Off for Title

The college basketball regular season is over, and it is finally time for March Madness to kick into high gear with conference tournaments being contested around the nation. That includes the Southeastern Conference, which began on Wednesday, March 8, in Nashville and will end on Sunday, March 12.

All 14 conference teams were in the tournament, which has been contested over five days at Bridgestone Arena. After all of that action, the top two seeds have risen to the top. No. 1 Alabama will face No. 2 Texas A&M at Noon CT on Sunday to determine the conference tournament champion.

The champion will clinch the league’s automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament, but that’s just semantics at this point as both teams are well-position to earn strong seeds in the field, which will be revealed Sunday night.

All of the top online sportsbooks have SEC Tournament odds listed for Sunday’s championship game. Here is a closer look at all of the details.

SEC Tournament Odds

Unsurprisingly, Alabama began the tournament as the favorite to win the tournament title and remained in that spot all the way up to Sunday’s final. The Crimson Tide dominated the SEC for much of the season and finished one game ahead of Texas A&M in the conference standings with a 16-2 record.

Here are the odds from DraftKings Sportsbook for Sunday’s championship game.

  • Point spread: Alabama -4
  • Moneylines: Alabama -175 | Texas A&M +150
  • Total (Over/Under): 145.5 points

Alabama and Texas A&M met just once during the regular season, but that game came on March 4 the final day of the regular season. With the Aggies close behind the Crimson Tide in the standings for the majority of the conference schedule, that regular-season finale had all the makings of an instant classic to decide the champion.

Instead, Texas A&M lost to Mississippi State the week before, which meant it was more than one game behind Alabama heading into the final game. Texas A&M won the game 67-61 on its home court, but much of the air was out of it because it meant nothing in terms of the regular season or conference tournament seeding.

That loss was part of a poor four-game stretch for the Crimson Tide at the end of the regular season. Star freshman Brandon Miller was linked by police during court testimony to an alleged murder near Alabama’s campus. Alabama went 3-1 straight-up but 0-4 against the spread in those four games.

The Crimson Tide have snapped out of that funk during the SEC Tournament with two resounding victories.

Texas A&M has looked incredible for the last three halves during the tournament. The Aggies trailed Arkansas by 13 points at halftime in the quarterfinals before rallying to win. They crushed Vanderbilt from start to finish in Saturday’s semifinal.
