Tennessee football is approaching its biggest day of the 2027 recruiting calendar as five-star running back David Gabriel Georges will announce his college commitment on Wednesday afternoon. Gabriel Georges is down to a top three of Tennessee, Ole Miss and Ohio State will all signs pointing to the Vols and Buckeyes being the true contenders.
Gabriel Georges has long been Tennessee football’s top target in the 2027 recruiting cycle. A Quebec native, Gabriel Georges stars at Chattanooga’s Baylor School where he’s dominated opponents over the last three years with an incredible blend of speed and power.
247sports ranks Gabriel Georges as a five-star recruit and the No. 12 prep prospect in the country. Rivals ranks him as a five-star recruit and the No. 23 prep prospect in the country. Both outlets rank him as the No. 2 running back in his class.
Tennessee needs to land the blue-chip running back for a number of reasons. Included is that the Vols have a lackluster recruiting class at the moment. The Vols’ 2027 recruiting class currently contains 17 commitments at the moment including from just five blue-chip recruits according to the 247sports composite rankings.
The Vols have also yet to land a commitment from a running back in the 2027 cycle after landing jus one lowly released three-star in the 2026 cycle.
