Tennessee Basketball Opens As Doubles Digits Favorites Against Louisiana

Tennessee opens up NCAA Tournament play late Thursday night against Louisiana in Orlando, Florida.

The four-seed Vols are 11-point favorites over the Sun Belt Tournament Champions and 13-seed Louisiana, according to Caesars Sportsbook.

The Vols are back in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth straight time under head coach Rick Barnes. Tennessee enters the NCAA Tournament 23-10 (11-7 SEC) with impressive wins over Kansas, Texas, Maryland and Alabama.

Tennessee struggled down the stretch of the regular season, in large part due to injuries, before losing to Missouri in the SEC Tournament Quarterfinals. The Vols will be without star point guard Zakai Zeigler for the rest of the season.

KenPom projects Tennessee to beat Louisiana 75-64 in the first round matchup in Orlando.

The Ragin’ Cajuns find themselves in the NCAA Tournament after finishing second in the Sun Belt regular season and winning the conference tournament. Louisiana is 26-7 (13-5 Sun Belt) entering the NCAA Tournament.

Former top recruit and Arizona sixth-man Jordan Brown is Louisiana’s top player and averages 19.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.

Tip-off between Tennessee and Louisiana is at 9:40 p.m. ET Thursday night. Kevin Harlan, Stan Van Gundy, and Dan Bonner are on the call with Tracy Wolfson on the sideline for CBS.
