Where Tennessee Baseball Ranks On Eve Of Conference Play

Conference play is almost here. Tennessee opens up SEC play this weekend at Missouri as Tony Vitello returns to his alma mater for his third time as the Vols’ head coach.

Tennessee enters conference play week 14-3 after a 3-1 week after the Vols fell to Boston College in the midweek before sweeping a three-game series against Morehead State. Basic base running and defensive mistakes plagued Tennessee against the Eagles before the Vols bounced back with a weekend sweep of Morehead State.

The Vols’ offense erupted in their series opening win over the Eagles for 23 runs. Third baseman Zane Denton stole the show, hitting for the cycle in the victory.

Tennessee faces Lipscomb Tuesday night before traveling to Columbia for its three-game series against the Tigers.
