Four-star Florida receiver James Madison II is unofficially visiting Tennessee football next week, Madison announced on Twitter Saturday afternoon.

Tennessee made Madison’s top 10 in January along with Auburn, Colorado, Florida State, LSU, Missouri, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State and South Carolina.

Madison ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 213 player and No. 33 receiver in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The Fort Lauderdale native also ranks as the 34th best player in the state of Florida.

While Tennessee has long been a player in Madison’s recruitment, this will be the Florida natives first trip to Knoxville. The Vols are in on a number of blue chip receivers in the 2024 recruiting class and getting Madison on campus makes them a real player for the four-star.

Madison hasn’t been overly active taking visits this year but has seen a handful of schools. The 6-foot-3 receiver visited both Florida State and Michigan last month— the only two visits he’s taken in 2023. Madison visited Oregon and a pair of other schools not in his top 10 during 2022.

Tennessee is major players for a handful of top receivers but currently only has one committed: four-star Mississippi native JJ Harrell. Harrell is a top 100 recruit and committed to Tennessee last month.

The Vols are also hard after five-star receivers Mike Matthews and Ryan Wingo as well as four-star Chattanooga receiver Amari Jefferson. Matthews unofficially visited Tennessee this weekend while Jefferson unofficially visited the Vols last weekend.

Wingo hasn’t been on Tennessee’s campus since January but the Vols expect him to return for a spring visit.

The Vols six-commit 2024 recruiting class ranks No. 6 nationally according to the 247sports team rankings.
