Elite Mississippi Defensive Lineman Schedules Tennessee Official Visit

Elite prep defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin wasn’t even done with his weekend unofficial visit to Tennessee before announcing his plans to returned to Knoxville for a summer official visit. The high four-star recruit will officially visit Tennessee on June 16, Franklin shared on Twitter.

Franklin is one of the best highest ranked four-stars in the 2024 recruiting class, coming in as the No. 39 player and No. 7 defensive lineman in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. Rivals and 247sports own rankings are even higher on Franklin, ranking him as a five-star and top 30 recruit nationally.

Tennessee defensive line coach Rodney Garner has long coveted the Lake Coromant, Mississippi native and his visit history shows it. Franklin has taken five visits to Tennessee since Josh Heupel took over as head coach including twice already in 2023.

However, Tennessee isn’t the only school Franklin has frequently visited. The blue chip defensive lineman has also taken five visits to instate Ole Miss and Mississippi State, four visits to Texas A&M and Alabama, three visits to Florida State and two to Miami.

While Franklin hasn’t announced any top group, it reckons that the school’s the defensive lineman has most frequently visited are the top contenders in his recruitment.

The 6-foot-5, 265 pound defensive lineman had a massive junior season at Lake Coromant High School, totaling 93 tackles and 19 sacks on the year.

Tennessee’s 2023 recruiting class currently contains one defensive lineman— three-star Chattanooga native Carson Gentle. The Vols’ eight-commit recruiting class ranks as the nation’s 10th best according to the 247sports team rankings.
