According to a new report over the weekend, the Tennessee Volunteers finished their 2023 spring football game with a top-five attendance number throughout the games so far.

The report from Hayes Fawcett on Twitter states that Tennessee had the fifth-highest attendance in the country and the second-highest among SEC programs. The Big 10 took control of the first three spots while the SEC rounded out the Top Five.

Tennessee played their spring game on a busy Apr. 15 weekend and announced their total attendance during the game in Knoxville. One week later, during the Tide’s spring game, Alabama football announced an attendance of 237 more people than Tennessee’s game.

“Obviously, what we were doing on the field with a lot of things going on this weekend, beautiful day, over 58,000 people showing up here on Rocky Top,” head coach Josh Heupel said after the Orange & White game. “Unbelievable turnout from our fanbase; absolute best in the country. I thank them for the energy they created outside the stadium with everything we had going on this week.”

The Top 10 of college football spring game attendance thus far, according to Fawcett, is as follows:

  1. Ohio State (Big 10) – 75,122
  2. Penn State (Big 10) – 68,000
  3. Nebraska (Big 10) – 66,045
  4. Alabama (SEC) – 58,710
  5. Tennessee (SEC) – 58,473
  6. Oklahoma (Big 12) – 54,409
  7. Georgia (SEC) – 54,000
  8. South Carolina (SEC) – 51,000
  9. Clemson (ACC) – 50,000
  10. Colorado (Pac 12) – 47,277

The Southeastern Conference makes up for 40 percent of the Top 10 so far with the SEC East claiming three of those four schools.
