Joe Milton is back to doing Joe Milton things. Aka… throwing things farther than anyone else.

On Friday night, during the middle of the four-day Manning Passing Academy event, Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton uncorked a deep ball with the whole camp either surrounding him or watching from the stands. Milton’s throw sailed through the air for 70 yards as cheers erupted from the kids once the ball hit the ground.

With the excitement around the Manning Passing Academy combined with the prior knowledge of Milton’s big arm, there were several angles of the throw to come out on Friday night.

Milton looks to be a fan-favorite among the kids at the camp as he was flooded with cheers and praise after making the throw. The Tennessee quarterback, rocking new orange braids in his hair and a backward cap at the event, was able to show a magnetic personality that fans of the Vols’ program have only just begun to see.

Joe Milton is one of the many collegiate quarterbacks that are working as counselors for the event hosted by the Manning family: Archie, Peyton, Eli, and Cooper. With Peyton Manning’s involvement in the event, Tennessee quarterbacks such as Josh Dobbs, Hendon Hooker, and Milton are frequently invited out to work the camp.

The Manning Passing Academy began on Thursday and will continue until Sunday morning at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA.

A Football, A Basketball, and An Orange

Throwing things far isn’t anything new for Joe Milton.

With ESPN’s College GameDay in Knoxville for the Tennessee-Texas SEC/Big 12 basketball clash earlier this spring, Milton was brought out for the television show and did a half-court shooting segment. While Milton did drain a shot from the half-court line, he also just showed what it would be like to throw the ball as far as he could into the stands. Turns out, pretty far.

Prior to that, though, Milton also had the college football world buzzing before Tennessee’s appearance in the Capital One Orange Bowl against Clemson.

The Tennessee content team filmed Milton launching an orange more than 100 yards on the Vols’ outdoor football field in Knoxville. The orange sailed through the air like a UFO only to wind up shattering upon contact with the metal fencing in the back of Tennessee’s practice area.

(For context of the buzz, if you type in “Joe Milton” on YouTube, the second search suggestion is “Joe Milton Throwing an Orange.” The video on Twitter generated more than 1.4 million views.)

We’ll see if Joe Milton’s big arm can help Tennessee reach the biggest games of the college football season this upcoming year. The Vols and quarterback Joe Milton will begin the season against Virginia on Saturday, Sept. 2, from Nashville’s Nissan Stadium. The game will be played at 11:00 a.m. CT/12:00 p.m. ET.
