Tennessee baseball second baseman Christian Moore and pitcher Drew Beam made the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team’s 31-man roster.

The national team will play a pair of five games series against Chinese Taipei and Japan between June 30 and July at various sites in North and South Carolina.

Moore and Beam made the national team after strong performances during four instrasquad scrimmages in 2023 Collegiate National Team Training Camp in Cary, North Carolina.

Tennessee has frequently had players on the collegiate national team in recent seasons with Drew Gilbert and Blade Tidwell participating in 2021 and Maui Ahuna playing for the team in 2022 after announcing his intentions to transfer to Tennessee.

Boasting two players on the 31-man roster, Tennessee is tied for the most players on the roster of any SEC team. Florida has two players on the roster while Arkansas, Georgia, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt all have one player on the roster.

Christian Moore started 61 games at shortstop for Tennessee as a sophomore, hitting .304 with 17 home runs, 30 extra-base hits and 50 RBIs. Moore earned Clemson Regional MVP honors after a dominant weekend that saw the sophomore hit as many home runs as outs recorded.

Fellow sophomore Drew Beam has been a key arm for Tennessee in each of his first two seasons in Knoxville. Beam posted a 9-4 record, 3.63 ERA and 1.32 WHIP this season and was particularly effective in the postseason.

The Murfreesboro, Tennessee native allowed just three runs in 17.2 innings pitched in three starts in the NCAA Tournament. Beam is the favorite to be the Vols’ Friday night starter in 2023.

Tennessee is coming off its second trip to the College World Series in three years and Tony Vitello and his staff are adding more talent to the roster this offseason.
