Tennessee basketball made the top five for blue-chip power forward Pharaoh Compton, the Arizona native announced on his X (Twitter) Sunday night.

The Vols joined Iowa, LSU, San Diego State and UNLV in Compton’s top group.

Compton ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 111 player in the 2024 recruiting cycle according to 247sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-6, 215-pound prospect also ranks as the No. 23 power forward in the country. On3 is higher on Compton, ranking him as the No. 79 player and No. 11 power forward in the country.

The blue chip recruit is a Chandler, Arizona native but is playing his senior prep season Arbor View High School in Las Vegas.

Compton released his top five schools ahead of a busy fall of official visits. The four-star recruit is officially visiting Tennessee this weekend after visiting San Diego State the last weekend of August.

The blue-chip recruit is also officially visiting Houston and Iowa in September and LSU in October.

Tennessee basketball is still looking for its first commitment in its 2024 recruiting class. The Vols are hosting four-star combo guard Bishop Boswell for an official visit this weekend.

The Vols have three seniors on the current roster— Santiago Vescovi, Josiah-Jordan James and Dalton Knecht— giving the Vols at least three scholarships available ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Freddie Dilione is an underclassmen NBA Draft candidate and transfers have become a mainstay in college basketball so the Vols will likely have more than three new scholarships available. They can use that them on both prep prospects and transfers.
