Tennessee football’s week eight matchup at Alabama kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET at Bryant-Denny Stadium. CBS is broadcasting the critical SEC matchup.

The Vols have now played one afternoon home game with another scheduled for this week against Texas A&M and an evening home game. Away from Neyland Stadium, Tennessee played a neutral site game at noon, a road game at night and now have a road game scheduled for the afternoon.

The Third Saturday in October resumes with more juice this season after Tennessee ended a 15-game losing streak in the series with last season’s 52-49 thriller at Neyland Stadium.

In recent years, media has asked Alabama players and coach Nick Saban about whether this game was a meaningful rivalry anymore. Those questions won’t come this season as Alabama looks to avenge last season’s loss in Knoxville.

Both Tennessee and Alabama have their backs against the wall early in the 2023 season. The Crimson Tide lost a home against Alabama in week two of the season before Tennessee lost at Florida a week later.

Alabama’s loss coming out of conference gives them more leeway in the SEC West race but the Crimson Tide still have little room for error in the College Football Playoff race. Tennessee is desperate in the SEC East race and likely needs to run the table to edge out Georgia for the divisional title.

The Vols face a challenging game against Texas A&M Saturday afternoon at Neyland Stadium before they head to Tuscaloosa. Alabama hosts a struggling Arkansas team at Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday before renewing one of the SEC’s oldest rivalries a week later.

Other top SEC games in week eight include Ole Miss-Auburn at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN, Mississippi State-Arkansas at noon ET on ESPN and South Carolina-Missouri at 3:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
