ESPN College GameDay host Seth Greenberg made a quick stop to Rocky Top on Monday to visit with head coach Rick Barnes and the Vols’ men’s basketball team.

Tennessee is quickly moving on the road to the 2023-2024 season after hosting Media Day last week in Knoxville. The Vols will also be celebrating Market Square Madness on Thursday night as the countdown continues to roll to the season opener on November 6.

Greenberg posted a video to social media after his visit with the Vols and showered the team in optimistic praise.

“Really impressed with this Tennessee team for a number of reasons,” Greenberg said in the video. “We know they’re going to defend, they’re going to be physical, they’re going to be hard to score against. But this team is better offensively.”

Offensive firepower was a key trait that Tennessee focused on this offseason. The Vols brought in Northern Colorado transfer Dalton Knecht and USC Upstate transfer Jordan Gainey through the portal, both of whom are career 37+ percent three-point shooters. Add that to the returning group of players that Tennessee has – Santiago Vescovi, Jahmai Mashack, Zakai Zeigler, Freddie Dilione – and you’ve got more weapons at each position on the court than last season.

“A big, big-time shot maker with a floor game,” Greenberg said about Knecht in his video. “Versatile. Can play the 3 and can play the 4. Gainey is another shot maker.”

Check out the full video that Greenberg posted on Tuesday below, where the College GameDay host continues to dive deep into Tennessee’s roster and reveals what he thought was the most impressive aspect of the practice that he saw in Knoxville this week.

Greenberg was in Knoxville earlier this year along with the rest of the College GameDay crew for Tennessee’s home contest against Texas in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. No. 4 Tennessee took down No. 10 Texas by a score of 82-71 during that game on January 28 in Knoxville.
