Six teams from the Southeastern Conference have a spot in the Week 8 AP Top 25 College Football rankings that were released on Sunday.

This is the fifth week this season that the SEC has had six teams in the rankings.

Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs are heading into the open date with the No. 1 ranking in the country and an undefeated record after pulling away from Vanderbilt late in the game in Nashville on Saturday afternoon. Georgia has not moved from the top spot in the country for the entirety of the season to date.

Alabama, on the other hand, cannot quite find its way into the Top 10, though that will certainly change with a win this weekend against No. 17 Tennessee. The Tide have been ranked at either No. 10, 11, 12, or 13 for the last six straight weeks coming off of their loss to Texas in the second week of the season.

Ole Miss has consistently been ranked as the SEC’s third-best team since Tennessee’s loss to Florida dropped them into the back half of the rankings. Lane Kiffin’s Rebels stayed at No. 13 this week following an open weekend with the bye.

Tennessee jumped up two spots to No. 17 in the country after a one-touchdown victory over Texas A&M in Knoxville on Saturday while LSU rose three spots after handling Auburn.

Missouri, meanwhile, jumped back into the rankings at No. 20 after running Kentucky out of their own building on Saturday. The Wildcats subsequently fell out of the rankings due to the loss.
