Tennessee Falls in AP Poll Following Alabama Loss

Tennessee football has fallen four spots in the AP Top 25 rankings following their 34-20 road loss to Alabama on Saturday.

The Vols fell from No. 17 to No. 21 in the October 22 poll. The full poll can be seen here.

Tennessee started Saturday’s game off red-hot, taking a 13-0 lead after the first quarter and a 20-7 lead heading into halftime. However, the 2023 chapter of the Third Saturday in October rivalry was a tail of two halves in the most extreme way.

Alabama outscored the Vols 27-0 in the second half to win 34-20. Tennessee’s defense was flat in the final 30 minutes, and Alabama took advantage, while the Joe Milton and UT’s passing attack could not execute at the same high level they did in the first half.

No. 1 – Georgia

No. 9 – Alabama

No. 12 – Ole Miss

No. 15 – LSU

No. 16 – Missouri

There are two ranked opponents remaining on Tennessee’s schedule: No. 1 Georgia and No. 16 Missouri.

The Vols will look to get back on track when they face Kentucky in Lexington on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.
