Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel was in attendance for the high school football game between Bradley Central (Cleveland) and Bearden (Knoxville) on Thursday night.

The Volunteers have two class of 2024 commits on the Bradley Central roster with four-star athlete Boo Carter and three-star athlete Marcus Goree Jr.

A play from Carter during Thursday’s game made the rounds on social media and has gathered a considerable amount of attention. While the play was called back for a penalty on the Bradley Central offense, Carter’s speed, athleticism, and knack for finding the endzone are greatly on display in the clip below.

Carter took a screen pass down the left sideline and into the endzone as he dipped and dashed around Bearden defenders.

Carter was making plays for the Bradley Central defense on Thursday, too. Just a few minutes after his touchdown was called back, Carter made a huge play on 1st down to set the Bulldogs far behind the line of scrimmage. Carter’s defensive burst, IQ, and recognition are things that have been highly valued by the Tennessee staff.

While the penalty negated his last trip to the endzone, Carter found six points in the third quarter of the game from the running back position.

But wait – there’s more.

With time winding down in the fourth quarter and Bradley Central up by 25 points, Carter intercepted a ball from the Bearden offense with the Bulldogs on the cusp of the red zone. Bearden needed to get some sort of points on the board and Carter took the opportunity away in a flash.

Carter ended the game with 108 yards on eight receptions, a rushing touchdown, and an interception during Bradley Central’s 46-14 win over Bearden to capture the Region 2-6A Title.

Boo Carter is a four-star 5-foot-10, 184-pound athlete from the class of 2024 according to 247 Sports. Carter ranks as a Top 5 prospect from the state of Tennessee and committed to Heupel’s Volunteers in mid-June. The Chattanooga native ranks as the No. 165 player in the nation and a Top 10 athlete in the entire class.

Tennessee’s 2024 recruiting class ranks No. 12 in the nation at the time of this publication with 20 commits in the class.
