Tennessee wing Dalton Knecht is in the midst of a fantastic season after transferring from Northern Colorado to Tennessee this offseason.
A number of publications ranked Knecht as anywhere from a top 25-50 player in the transfer portal last offseason, but his strong start to the season has him vying as the nation’s top transfer this season.
On3’s Jamie Shaw released his updated in season transfer rankings on Tuesday, pegging Knecht at No. 2 behind only Kansas’ Hunter Dickinson.

Knecht is averaging 19.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game and has been incredibly efficient as a scorer. The 6-foot-6 wing is shooting 49% from the field, 39.1% from three-point range and 79% from the foul line.
Not only has Knecht been one of the best transfers in the country but one of the top players in the country and a legitimate National Player of the Year candidate. Shaw’s National Player of the Year rankings have Knecht at No. 4 behind Purdue’s Zach Edey, Marquette’s Tyler Kolek and Dickinson. In KenPom’s National Player of the Year rankings, Knecht currently lands at No. 9.

The fifth-year senior’s brought a major boost to Tennessee this season and particularly on the offensive side of the ball were the Vols have struggled to find consistency in recent years.
Knecht and the Vols return to the court on Tuesday night where they’ll face Georgia Southern at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. ET. Tom Hart and Jimmy Dykes are on the call for the SEC Network.
