Tennessee football transfers Tyler Baron and Tamarion McDonald are visiting Ole Miss on Thursday, On3 first reported.

Both Baron and McDonald played four seasons at Tennessee and have one-year of eligibility due to COVID-19 eligibility relief from the 2020 season. McDonald started each of the last two seasons at STAR in Tennessee’s secondary while Baron was a three-year starter at defensive end and turned in a breakout senior season.

A Nashville native, Baron totaled 28 tackles and six sacks in 12 games during the 2023 season. Combined with sophomore James Pearce Jr, Tennessee boasted one of the SEC’s best pass rushes last season.

Baron previously entered the transfer portal briefly following the 2021 season before returning to Tennessee. The defensive end flirted with the portal again last offseason before entering it last Friday. According to On3’s Chad Simmons, Baron is strongly considering Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss and Texas.

McDonald was a solid defensive starter for Tennessee last season, totaling 40 tackles, four pass deflections, one sack and one interception. The Memphis native turned in better numbers as a junior when he totaled 55 tackles and two interceptions.

Lane Kiffin stopped by Knoxville earlier this week, sharing a picture with LSU star Jayden Daniels and presumably visiting with both Baron and McDonald while recruiting them to Ole Miss.

Ten different Tennessee players have entered the transfer portal so far this offseason with Baron and McDonald being the two biggest contributors and sought after players in the portal. Stay up to date with all Tennessee transfer portal departures with the RTI Transfer Portal Tracker.
