In 2021, Jefferson threw for 2,676 yards, 21 touchdowns and four interceptions while adding 664 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns. In 2022, Jefferson threw for 2,648 yards, 24 touchdowns and five interceptions while adding 640 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.

Arkansas lost offensive coordinator Kendall Briles following the 2022 season but Jefferson still elected to return for his senior season. The Mississippi native turned in the worst year of his starting career, throwing for just 2,107 yards, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions to go along with 447 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Jefferson will now play his final season elsewhere after leading Arkansas to a 20-18 record in his three seasons as head coach. Mississippi State and Auburn are two SEC schools potentially looking for a quarterback in the transfer portal while TCU has also been linked to Jefferson.

Who will replace the veteran quarterback at Arkansas is currently unclear. Tennessee travels to Fayetteville to face the Razorbacks on Oct. 5 next season.
