Tennessee basketball entered the week with plenty of questions surrounding what seed it would earn in the NCAA Tournament. The Vols were in lock step and prepared for a game of hop scotch with North Carolina as they battled for the final one-seed.

But Mississippi State upsetting Tennessee basketball in the SEC Tournament Quarterfinals ended the Vols’ quest for their first ever one-seed. According to bracketology updates, Tennessee is all but locked in as a two-seed in the NCAA Tournament with Selection Sunday looming.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has Tennessee as the top two-seed and headed east to Boston where UConn would be its one-seed, Duke would be its three-seed and Kansas would be its four-seed.

The Huskies are the reigning National Champions and have been in the top five of the rankings nearly all season. UConn faces Marquette in the Big East Championship on Saturday night and could potentially earn the No. 1 overall seed.

Tennessee ended Duke’s season in the Round of 32 last year and like the Vols, Duke enters the NCAA Tournament after being upset in the quarterfinals of its conference tournament.

CBS’ Jerry Palm has Tennessee as the two-seed in the West Region, matched up with one-seed Houston, three-seed Creighton and four-seed Duke.

The first weekend of the tournament, Palm has Tennessee matched up with 15-seed Fairfield in the first round and one of Washington State, St. John’s or Northwestern in the Round of 32.

Tennessee will figure out its NCAA Tournament fate on Sunday night. The selection show airs on CBS at 6 p.m. ET. on Sunday night.
