Tennessee jumped up three spots in the Week 14 AP Poll and Coaches Rankings on Sunday afternoon.

The Vols’ rise up the two polls comes after a 56-0 shutout win over UTEP and a wild day across the college football landscape on Saturday.

Tennessee now sits at No. 7 in the AP Poll and No. 8 in the Coaches Rankings. Tennessee and Miami are flipped in each poll. As usual, though, these aren’t the rankings that matter or show up on television anymore – that would be the College Football Playoff rankings.

The next set of College Football Playoff rankings will be released on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. ET. Stay tuned to Rocky Top Insider for more on Tuesday night.

Teams currently ranked 5-9 in the AP Poll all moved up Sunday after a handful of teams plummeted from their previous position after key late-season losses. Indiana dropped five spots after a 38-15 loss to Ohio State, Alabama dropped six spots after getting blown out at Oklahoma, and Ole Miss dropped six spots after a one-score loss to Florida in The Swamp.

Tennessee is the third highest-ranked SEC team in the Week 14 AP Poll trailing only No. 3 Texas and No. 6 Georgia. Also in the rankings are No. 13 Alabama, No. 15 Ole Miss, No. 16 South Carolina, No. 20 Texas A&M, and No. 24 Missouri. Florida received four votes while LSU received two.
