Tennessee is losing another wide receiver to the transfer portal.

According to a report from On3 Sports’ Hayes Fawcett on Thursday, Tennessee redshirt freshman wide receiver Nathan Leacock intends to enter his name into the portal.

Leacock will have three years of eligibility remaining.

While dealing with some injuries during his time in Knoxville, Leacock’s Tennessee tenure never quite manifested in his first two years with the program. Leacock battled injury at times during his freshman season and only played in one game before racking up five appearances during his second season in 2024. The North Carolina native played both offense and special teams during the 2024 season but did not travel for either of the Vols’ final two road games.

Leacock recorded one in-game catch during his two years at Tennessee, a 13-yard grab against Chattanooga in the season-opener against Chattanooga this past August.

Leacock is the third Tennessee wide receiver to enter the portal following Kaleb Webb and Chas Nimrod‘s movement this week.

The 6-foot-3, 217-pound wide receiver was a big win for Josh Heupel and his staff in the 2023 recruiting class out of Millbrook High School in Raleigh, N.C. 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings had Leacock listed as a four-star prospect, the No. 73 player in the class, the No. 13 wide receiver, and the No. 3 player from the state of North Carolina on the recruiting trail.

Leacock originally committed to Tennessee over North Carolina, NC State, and Michigan in July 2022. With Bill Belichick assembling his first team with the Tar Heels, perhaps North Carolina could be a potential team to watch for Leacock’s services.

Tennessee’s wide receiver room will certainly be a storyline to watch this offseason. Aside from Leacock, Nimrod, and Webb all entering the portal as developing wide receivers, Tennessee is also losing veterans Bru McCoy and Dont’e Thornton due to eligibility. The Vols still have depth in the room but losing players who have been developing in the system will open up opportunities for others.

Leacock will be Tennessee’s seventh player to hit the portal before the playoffs. The portal officially opened up on Monday.
