No. 1 Tennessee improved to 10-0 on the season with an unbelievable coast-to-coast buzzer-beating layup from Jordan Gainey.
The Vols defeated Illinois in Champaign on Saturday night by a score of 66-64 behind Gainey’s 23 points and buzzer-beating layup.
With the Vols in significant foul trouble for much of the game, Gainey put the team on his back and lifted Tennessee to victory with 18 points in the final 20 minutes.
After the game, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes and Gainey met with the media to discuss their reactions to the game. Tennessee’s Igor Milicic Jr and Jahmai Mashack also spoke to the media for a few minutes as well.
