Tennessee’s social media team dropped a new video from winter workouts on Tuesday morning.
Winter workouts are a grueling aspect of the offseason – no lights, no cameras, no screaming fans in the stands, no opposing teams. On3 Sports’ J.D. PicKell, a former wide receiver at the D1 level, explained what winter workouts are really like during a YouTube show last year.
“The first thing that it is, it’s a head game, man,” PicKell said on the show. “I say that in the most positive way possible. You lay the foundation for what you’re going to be when the bullets start flying during practice and during games. It’s early, it’s high intensity, you have a lot of high competition level atmospheres. You have coaches probably this far from your face just screaming at you – words of encouragement or maybe it’s words of challenge, trying to pull the best of out you. What I’m saying, winter conditioning is trying to build you up mentally.”
Tennessee will continue through winter workouts until it’s time to flip the script to spring training camp, ending with the fan-favorite Orange and White game on April 12, 2025.
