Tennessee baseball recorded its 10th no-hitter in program history with a 10-0 run-rule win over Texas A&M in seven innings Friday in Knoxville.

Tennessee ace Liam Doyle and reliever Dylan Loy combined to throw Tennessee’s fifth combined no-hitter in program history and second this season. The Vols no-hit St. Bonaventure in a 12-0 series-opening win in nine innings earlier this season.

This is the first time since 1976 Tennessee has recorded multiple no-hitters in the same season.

Doyle was phenomenal in 6.0 innings of work against the Aggies, allowing no hits, two walks and one hit-by-pitch while striking out eight. Doyle’s day was done after six innings and 96 pitches. He received the win on the night, his fifth of the season.

Sophomore lefty Dylan Loy finished off the no-hitter with a 1-2-3 inning in the seventh, preserving his perfect 0.00 ERA.

Tennessee’s no-hitter marked the first in a conference game by any team in the SEC since March 2021 when Vanderbilt’s Jack Leiter no-hit South Carolina.

Friday’s no-hitter is Tennessee’s first combined no-hitter against a conference foe, as its other four came against St. Bonaventure, Tusculum, College of Charleston and Slippery Rock.

Tennessee has recorded a no-hitter against an SEC team three other times before Friday, twice against Georgia and once against Kentucky.

Prior to Tennessee’s no-hitter against the Bonnies in March, the last Tennessee baseball no-hitter came against Bowling Green in 2002. Before that, it was a combined no-hitter in 2000 against the College of Charleston.

All six of Tennessee’s other no-hitters came in 1990 or before, with three coming in 1976.

Two of Tennessee’s five combined no-hitters have come in seven-inning games, including Friday against the Aggies. Four of Tennessee’s five individual no-hitters have come in seven-inning games.

Jeffery Terrell is the only Vol to toss a nine-inning no-hitter, which he did February 15, 2022 against Bowling Green.

Doyle and Loy’s combined no-hitter is another example of the dominance Tennessee has displayed on the mound this season. The Vols entered Friday’s contest with a 2.48 team ERA which will be lower after the series-opening win.

The starting rotation of Doyle, Marcus Phillips and Tegan Kuhns has worked wonders while key bullpen arms Nate Snead and Dylan Loy, who still has a 0.00 ERA, have risen to the occasion every time.

Tennessee will look to win and potentially sweep the weekend series against Texas A&M in a Saturday doubleheader. First pitch for game two of the series and game of the doubleheader is at 3 p.m. ET. Both games will be streamed on SEC Network +.
