Chase Dollander let out a big “Let’s go!” when he was told the news.
As revealed by the team on social media, the former Tennessee pitcher has been officially called up to the big leagues. He will make his MLB debut on Sunday against the Athletics.
The Rockies posted a video of Dollander’s surprise news onto social media on Friday with an old-school Jim Ross WWF reference: “Bah God, that’s Chase Dollander’s music.”

Dollander was the Rockies’ top prospect when he was called up for Sunday’s game, showing the talent he has displayed in just a short time out of college. The 6-foot-3 right-hander was drafted out of Tennessee with the 9th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft.
Fortunately for Tennessee fans, they’ll have the chance to see multiple former Vols by turning on the right Rockies game this season. Colorado also has former Vol Jordan Beck in the outfield and former Vol Seth Halvorsen in the pitcher’s room.
According to Baseball Reference, Dollander went 2-3 in six games with the Rockies during 2025 spring training with 17 hits, 16 runs, 14 earned runs, and 24 strikeouts in 17.2 innings pitched.
While the season is barely a week old, the Rockies have gotten out to a forgettable start with a 1-5 record in their first six games. Colorado hasn’t been to its home ballpark yet this season, though. The Rockies began their year with road series at Tampa and Philadelphia but will return home for a three-game series against the A’s at Coors Field starting on Friday.
