Tennessee offensive lineman Ayden Bussell is entering the transfer portal in the spring window, as first reported by Grant Ramey of VolQuest on Friday afternoon.

The 6-foot-5, 314-pound lineman came to Tennessee as a three-star prospect from Mount Juliet High School in the class of 2023 and spent two years with the Vols’ program. Bussell also held notable offers from Kentucky, Memphis, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss during his recruitment.

The reserve offensive lineman was named an SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll selection in 2023.

Bussell is the fourth Tennessee player to enter the portal this spring, alongside quarterback Nico Iamaleava, safety John Slaughter, and safety Christian Charles. Iamaleava is the only of the four so far to find a new program as he will be transferring to UCLA.

The spring portal window opened last Wednesday and will remain open until Friday, April 25. The window comes after teams around the nation have already gone through spring training camps and is primarily used to button up last-minute roster holes based on injury or availability before the summer. Tennessee, for instance, is looking to be a buyer in the quarterback market this spring after moving on from its starter last weekend.

Ayden Bussell will be entering his redshirt sophomore season this fall with his new program out of the portal.
