Tennessee basketball landed its second shooting guard commitment in the last two days when French guard Clarence Massamba committed and signed with the Vols.

Massamba comes to Tennessee after playing two seasons at The Rock School in Florida and a season playing on the AC Monaco U21 team in France. The French guard is a high-level athlete with a jump shot that’s been solid to this point in his basketball career.

“We are happy to welcome Clarence and his family to the Tennessee basketball program,” Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes said in a statement. “Once we identified Clarence as a player of interest, we immediately became excited about his impressive upside. He is a long, athletic, versatile guard who can really attack in the open court. He is good with the ball in his hands, yet also possesses the ability to excel without it. Clarence has a nice feel for the game and an excellent basketball IQ. He is a hard-working, driven young man who plays with a chip on his shoulder and our fans will love seeing the way he competes.”

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard spent last season playing for AS Monaco, a professional team in France. A 19-year old, Massamba played mostly on AC Monaco’s B team (U21) where he averaged 9.8 points on 45% shooting from the field and 34% shooting from three-point range. He added 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

Before playing for AC Monaco last season, Massamba played two seasons at The Rock School in Gainesville, Florida. The shooting guard averaged 13 points and five rebounds per game during the 2023-24 season with the Lions. Massamba was an efficient scorer, shooting 53% from the field and 42% from three-point range. He has the reputation of a good defender, averaging 1.5 steals per game while helping the Lions win the state championship.

ESPN is the only recruiting website that has a profile for Massamba, ranking him as a three-star recruit in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Now with Massamba on board, Tennessee has filled 12 of its 13 scholarship spots ahead of the 2025-26 season. The Vols returned four scholarship players, have signed a five-player prep recruiting class and have added three transfers.
