Tennessee basketball landed its third transfer of the offseason on Tuesday when Louisiana Tech shooting guard Amaree Abram committed to and signed with the Vols over James Madison, LSU and Minnesota.

Abram played his junior season at Louisiana Tech where he averaged 12.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. The Port Arthur, Texas native brings Tennessee the spacing they need at the two-guard spot after hitting 66 three-pointers last season at a 37% clip.

The 6-foot-4 guard was also one of the best perimeter defenders in Conference USA. In a three game stretch during conference play, Abram defended three of the conference’s best scorers and held them to 10 points per game on 27% shooting from the field.

The recruiting sites list Abram as either a point guard, combo guard or shooting guard. Combo guard is probably the best way to describe the left-handed shooter. Abram will mostly play shooting guard at Tennessee but could also run the point some.

Abram is transferring to his fourth school in four years. He spent his freshman season at Ole Miss where he impressed, starting 22 games on his way to eight points, two rebounds and two assists per game. Abram transferred to Georgia Tech after his freshman season and struggled with the Yellow Jackets before landing with Louisiana Tech last season.

Here’s where Abram lands in various transfer portal rankings.
