Former Tennessee sharpshooter Chaz Lanier is heading to the NBA Combine in his path to the draft this May, as revealed in a post from Tennessee Basketball on Saturday morning.

Lanier will represent the Vols at the 2025 NBA Combine in Chicago’s Wintrust Arena from May 11 to May 18.

During his lone season on Rocky Top, the Nashville native proved to be a historic shooter for the Volunteers’ program. Lanier led Tennessee in scoring and averaged 18.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists throughout the 38-game season. The 6-foot-4 guard set a new all-time Tennessee record with 123 made three-pointers on the season, breaking Chris Lofton’s previous record.

Lanier earned a double-digit scoring output in 36 of 38 games this season, with a season high 30 points in a critical road win over No. 7 Texas A&M.

Lanier ended his Tennessee career as a 2025 Wooden Award All-American, a First Team All-SEC (AP) selection, and the SEC Newcomer of the Year (coaches).

Other notable SEC players to receive an invite to the NBA Combine include Kentucky’s Kobe Brea, Florida’s Walter Clayton Jr., Arkansas’s Boogie Fland, Auburn’s Johni Broome, South Carolina’s Collin Murray-Boyles, Texas’s Tre Johnson, Alabama’s Grant Nelson, and Georgia’s Asa Newell.

Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman recently tagged Lanier as a projected second-round selection to the Detroit Pistons with the 37th overall pick.

“Chaz Lanier buried 10 threes in Tennessee’s first two NCAA tournament wins, burning defenses with his quick release and movement shooting,” Wasserman wrote. “NBA teams that could use more offensive firepower will look past age and lack of versatility for such advanced shotmaking.”

Lanier is Tennessee’s lone representative on the 2025 NBA Combine invite list, which can be found here.
