Tennessee wasn’t able to land transfer wide receiver Jonathan Brady despite hosting him for a visit on campus on Thursday.
According to a report from On3 Sports’ Hayes Fawcett on Saturday night, Brady has committed to Indiana.

Brady played with Cal in 2024 and racked up 386 yards and three touchdowns on 36 receptions. The 5-foot-10 receiver was third on his team in receptions and earned a 62.4 season grade from Pro Football Focus, which would have been good for the third-highest among Tennessee’s eligible receivers last season.
Before his time with the Golden Bears, Brady was with New Mexico State and tallied 934 yards and seven touchdowns in two seasons. Brady had current Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia as his signal-caller for both 2022 and 2023.
Brady reportedly visited Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Indiana, and UCLA out of the portal.
While Tennessee didn’t land Brady in the portal, it’s clear that the Vols’ coaching staff is looking to make a move in the spring window to bolster the receiver room. Tennessee returns starter Chris Brazzell Jr., while Mike Matthews and Braylon Staley expect to step into their own starting roles this season. Aside from that, though, you’re looking at transfer WR Amari Jefferson, freshman Travis Smith Jr., freshman Radarious Jackson, and some two-way snaps from safety Boo Carter.
Smith and Jackson have been impressive during spring camp, but it isn’t surprising to see Tennessee targeting receivers in the portal. We’ll see if another receiver begins to emerge for Tennessee in the near future with Brady taking his name off the board.
Tennessee has added seven players through the transfer portal so far, with four in the winter window and three so far in the spring window. The Vols strengthened their offensive line with a pair of interior players in Wendell Moe Jr. and Sam Pendleton, added to the receiver room with Jefferson, and brought in a veteran running back with Star Thomas.
In the spring window, Tennessee added UCLA quarterback Joey Aguilar, DII defensive lineman Josh Schell, and former Colorado cornerback Colton Hood.
