Tennessee Baseball’s Series Finale Against Vanderbilt In Weather Delay

Tennessee baseball’s series finale against Vanderbilt is in a weather delay due to lightning in the area. The game will be delayed an additional 30 minutes every time there’s lightning within an eight mile radius of the stadium.

*Play is set to resume at 7 p.m. ET

*It is now 7 p.m. ET and it is still raining and the tarp is on the mound. New first pitch time Is 7:10 p.m. ET.

Vanderbilt leads 5-3 in the top of the sixth inning. The Commodores took the lead the final pitch before the delay when Colin Barczi hit a two-run homer on an 0-2 Tanner Franklin fastball. It was the second straight Vanderbilt batter to have an extra-base hit on an 0-2 pitch.

When play will resume, there will be two outs with no one on. Tony Vitello had just made a pitching change to left-handed pitcher Dylan Loy.

The Vols have Cannon Peebles, Chris Newstrom and Gavin Kilen due up when we move to the bottom half of the inning. Tennessee has yet to lead in the series rubber match but has matched Vanderbilt punch-for-punch.

The Commodores scored in the first, second and fifth inning before the two-run homer in the sixth. Tennessee answered with a run of its own in each inning. The Vols have left seven on base compared to just two left on base for Vanderbilt.

Tennessee is in a bad run of weather luck. They dealt with multiple delays and postponements last weekend against Auburn and had its Friday night game at LSU delayed for over three hours.
