Tennessee football offered four-star safety Kenneth Simon, the son of former Tennessee linebacker Kevin Simon, earlier this week.

Kenneth Simon is a local prospect, entering his junior year at Knoxville’s Bearden High School. He ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 290 player in the class of 2027 according to the 247sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-2, 198-pound prospect also ranks as the No. 27 safety and the No. 10 player in the state of Tennessee in his class.

Simon has no shortage of big time offers including from Florida, Nebraska, North Carolina, Missouri, Kentucky, Arkansas and Auburn.

Kevin Simon played football at Tennessee from 2002-05 after signing with Phillip Fulmer and his staff as a big time recruit from Walnut Creek, California. Over the course of his college career, Simon totaled 237 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, one interception, nine pass deflections, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

The inside linebacker played sparingly as a freshman and missed most his junior season due to an injury. But Simon had a strong sophomore season in 2003 and senior season in 2005 earning All-SEC honors both years. Simon totaled 115 tackles and 4.5 sacks in 2003 and 88 tackles and five pass deflections in 2005.

Kevin playing at Tennessee isn’t the only thing the Vols have going for them in the Bearden standout’s recruitment. Kevin is also currently on Josh Heupel’s staff at Tennessee as Director of Player Development. Simon returned to his alma mater in 2018 under head coach Jeremy Pruitt and has served in that role ever since. Before his time at Tennessee, Simon served as a scout for the Atlanta Falcons.

Tennessee unsurprisingly does not yet have a commit in its 2027 recruiting class. The Vols landed their first commit in the 2026 cycle in August 2024. Josh Heupel and his staff did offer another Tennessee legacy this week in linebacker JP Peace— the son of Robert Peace and grandson of Phillip Fulmer.
