Months ago, former NFL coach turned Barstool Sports personality Jon Gruden began unboxing merch packages from teams. What began as a small piece of content saying thank you for a gracious gift, Gruden’s box openings have taken on a new life of it’s own.
With boxes coming in daily from colleges, pro teams, and even minor league teams, fans felt like it was only a matter of time before a video came out of Gruden shredding his way through a Tennessee Volunteers care package.
As it turns out, today is that day.
The box comes with a thank-you note from Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel, which is read aloud in the video, thanking the former NFL coach for being the headline speaker at the 2025 Tennessee Football Coaching Clinic in Knoxville from March 28-29.
We won’t spoil the surprises… but after starting the video in normal street clothes, the once-Tennessee graduate assistant was so decked out in Big Orange gear that even a VolShop mannequin would be jealous.

This box means so much to not only myself but to my family as well.
I was a coach at Tennessee, I met my wife at Tennessee, my son went to Tennessee. Tennessee is home to me.
Thank you Coach Heupel and @Vol_Football for this incredible box, I am a VFL! #GBO pic.twitter.com/uuEdlso4qW
