Tennessee baseball head coach Tony Vitello, reliever Brandon Arvidson and infielder Gavin Kilen met with the media following the Vols’ epic 7-5 win over Texas in 12 innings.

Vitello discussed the incredible performances from Arvidson and Kilen, and the pair of Vols reacted to their own efforts. Vitello also talked about the team’s will to win and more after the Vols advanced.

Arvidson shoved in a 5.1-inning relief performance. The redshirt sophomore threw 60 strikes on a whopping 85 total pitches. The Dripping Springs, Texas native allowed one unearned run on four hits.

Prior to Thursday, Arvidson’s season-high in innings pitched was 2.1. His season high in total pitches was 41. The first-year Vol turned in a legendary performance when Tennessee needed it most, and his last couple outings are an extremely positive sign for the UT bullpen moving forward.

Kilen mashed a solo homer and a two-run double in extra innings, with the double proving to be the winning play in the 12th inning.

Tennessee will look to keep its winning streak alive Saturday against either Vanderbilt or Oklahoma. First pitch is at 1 p.m. ET from Hoover Met Stadium.
