See The Jersey Numbers For Tennessee Basketball’s Eight Newcomers

Tennessee basketball began its offseason workouts last week as its returning players and eight newcomers arrived on campus for the official beginning of the 2025-26 Vol hoops journey.

The Vols officially updated their roster earlier this week including the jersey numbers for their eight newcomers on this year’s roster.

Here’s a look at Tennessee’s newcomers and what jersey numbers they will wear next season for the Vols.

Ja’Kobi Gillespie

Jersey Number: No. 0

Position: Point Guard

Year: Senior

Measurables: 6-foot-1, 186 pounds

Previous stop: Maryland

What to know: Gillespie is Tennessee’s prized transfer addition of the offseason after earning Third Team All-Big 10 honors for the Terrapins a season ago. The Greeneville native comes to Tennessee after averaging 14.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per game a season ago. Jonas Aidoo was the last Tennessee player to wear No. 0.

Amari Evans

Jersey Number: No. 1

Position: Small forward

Year: Freshman

Measurables: 6-foot-5, 211 pounds

Previous stop: Overtime Elite

What to know: One of the best perimeter defenders in the 2025 recruiting cycle, Evans ranked as a four-star recruit and the No. 50 player in the country according to 247sports. The physical wing has the athleticism and defensive mentality to make an instant impact. That question is how advanced his offensive game can be as a true freshman. Evans is the first Vol to wear No. 1 since Freddie Dilione

Clarence Massamba

Jersey Number: No. 4

Position: Small forward

Year: Freshman

Measurables: 6-foot-5, 185 pounds

Previous stop: AC Monaco

What to know: Massamba played two seasons of prep basketball in America at The Rock School in Florida where he helped the Lions win a state championship during the 2023-25 season. A France native, Massamba moved back to Europe where he played for the AC Monaco U21 team last season. He’s the first Vol to wear No. 4 since Tyreke Key.

DeWayne Brown II

Jersey Number: No. 6

Position: Power forward

Year: Freshman

Measurables: 6-foot-9, 255 pounds

Previous stop: Hoover High School

What to know: The reigning Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year, Brown led Hoover High School to state championships in both his junior and senior seasons. 247sports ranks Brown as a four-star and the No. 104 player in the 2025 recruiting class. Brown projects as a depth piece for the Vols as a freshman. He is the first Vol to ever wear No. 6.

Nate Ament

Jersey Number: No. 10

Position: Small forward

Year: Freshman

Measurables: 6-foot-9, 190 pounds

Previous stop: Highland School

What to know: The highest rated signee in Tennessee basketball history, Ament ranked as a five-star recruit and the No. 4 player in the country according to 247sports. A potential lottery pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, Ament projects as one of the Vols’ best players as a true freshman. Ament is the first Vol to wear No. 10 since John Fulkerson.

Jaylen Carey

Jersey Number: No. 23

Position: Power forward

Year: Junior

Measurables: 6-foot-8, 265 pounds

Previous stop: Vanderbilt

What to know: One of the key players on Vanderbilt’s first team to make the NCAA Tournament in nearly a decade, Carey averaged eight points and 5.7 rebounds for the Commodores a season ago. He joins a returning front court that has the potential to be one of the SEC’s best. Carey is the first Vol to wear No. 23 since Grant Hurst. Hurst is now No. 7.

Troy Henderson

Jersey Number: No. 24

Position: Point guard

Year: Freshman

Measurables: 6-foot-1, 180 pounds

Previous stop: John Marshall High School

What to know: A three-star point guard who previously signed with Fordham, Henderson will compete for backup point guard minutes in his true freshman season in Knoxville. Henderson is the first Vol to wear No. 24 since walk-on Kaylan Makan.

Amaree Abram

Jersey Number: No. 77

Position: Shooting guard

Year: Senior

Measurables: 6-foot-4, 195 pounds

Previous stop: Louisiana Tech

What to know: Abram averaged 12.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in his junior season at Louisiana Tech. A solid perimeter shooter, Abram had success in the SEC at Ole Miss as a freshman. The left-handed shooter will compete for the starting job at shooting guard. He is the first ever Vol to wear No. 77.
