Tennessee football made quite the impression on five-star offensive lineman Darius Gray during his official visit over the weekend. In fact, the Vols are “at the top” in Gray’s recruitment, he told On3’s Steve Wiltfong following his weekend visit.

Gray ranks as a five-star recruit and the No. 28 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The Richmond native also ranks as the No. 2 player in the state of Virginia and the No. 2 interior offensive lineman in the 2026 recruiting cycle.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound offensive guard is a two-way star at St. Christopher’s School. On the defensive side of the ball, Gray totaled 50 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks. Gray also plays basketball for St. Christopher where he averaged 12 points and eight rebounds per game as a junior.

Gray had twice visited Tennessee before this weekend’s official visit, seeing the Vols for an unofficial visit during spring practice after visiting for the UTEP game in November.

While Tennessee has jumped ahead in Gray’s recruitment, they will have a tough task to get to the finish line and land his commitment. Gray still has official visits lined up to Ohio State, LSU, Penn State and South Carolina for later this month.

The Navy All-American selection does not have a commitment date lined up at this point but it could very feasibly come in July or August after he takes all of his official visits.

Tennessee football’s 2026 recruiting class currently has eight commitments but from just one offensive lineman. However, five-star offensive line commit Gabriel Osenda is one of the highest ranked recruits in the Vols’ 2025 recruiting cycle. Former Vol commit and four-star offensive lineman Brandon Anderson is visiting Tennessee later this month.

The Vols’ eight commit recruiting class currently ranks No. 31 nationally and No. 6 in the SEC according to the 247sports team rankings.
