Former Tennessee commit Tyson Bacon has found his new home. The four-star recruit committed to Miami football on Tuesday night over Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and Ohio State.

Bacon ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 302 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The Hoover native ranks as the No. 15 player in the state of Alabama and the No. 36 defensive lineman in the 2026 recruiting cycle.

The 6-foot-3, 263-pound defensive lineman previously committed to Josh Heupel and his staff in October shortly after watching Tennessee beat Alabama at Neyland Stadium. Bacon returned for a visit in November for the Kentucky game and returned again in March for spring practice before de-committing in April.

Bacon committed to the Hurricanes shortly after taking his official visit to Miami. The Alabama native announced his commitment shortly before scheduled official visits to Florida and Tennessee. While the Vols were not giving up their pursuit of Bacon, there was little confidence that they were going to get him back in their 2026 recruiting class.

Without Bacon in its class, Tennessee’s 2026 recruiting class only includes two defensive lineman— four-star edge rusher Zach Groves, three-star edge rusher CJ Edwards. Adding more interior defensive linemen is a clear need for Tennessee as it continues to put together its 2026 recruiting class.

The Vols’ seven-commit 2026 recruiting class currently ranks No. 34 nationally and No. 8 in the SEC according to the 247sports team rankings.

With Bacon in the fold, Miami’s recruiting class contains 12 commitments and ranks No. 9 nationally according to the 247sports team rankings. Bacon is the fifth highest ranked recruit in the Hurricanes’ 2026 recruiting class.
