Less than a month after being named the SEC Pitcher of the Year, Tennessee pitcher Liam Doyle added another feather in his cap following an impressive year on Rocky Top.
Doyle was named the 2025 Pitcher of the Year by Perfect Game on Tuesday, highlighting his 3.20 ERA and 164 strikeouts in 95 innings of work on the mound. The left-handed pitcher was also named one of the five starting pitchers on Perfect Game’s First Team All-American list on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-2 flamethrower transferred to Tennessee from Ole Miss and immediately made his mark on Tony Vitello’s program. With Tennessee’s season over at the time of this publication, Doyle’s 164 strikeouts make him the Vols’ all-time single-season strikeout leader.

More From RTI: Big 10 Starting Pitcher Visiting Tennessee Baseball Tuesday
Doyle finished the season with a 10-4 record in 19 appearances (17 starts), one save, and a 3.20 ERA. He struck out 164 batters in 95.2 innings on the mound while only giving up 63 hits, 37 runs, and 34 earned runs in the process. Opponent’s batting averages plummeted to .184 when the hard-throwing lefty was on the mound for the Volunteers.
There are plenty of moments that Tennessee fans will remember from Doyle’s lone year on Rocky Top, but perhaps none more electric than his red-hot moment against Wake Forest in Game 7 of the Knoxville Super Regional.
After heaving 104 pitches in 6.2 innings against Miami (OH) in the first game of the Knoxville Regional, Doyle returned to the mound in a relief appearance just three days later to help Tennessee slam the door shut on the Demon Deacons. He pitched 2.1 innings for the Vols with five strikeouts, no hits, and no runs.
