The television time windows have officially been revealed for the 2025 Tennessee Football schedule, as announced by UT Sports on Wednesday afternoon.

Similar to the 2024 season, many of these games will be in a “flex” position, meaning that the times are in a general place but have not been specified quite yet. For instance, Tennessee’s SEC road opener at Mississippi State is in the flex spot, meaning it could be from 3:30-4:30 p.m. ET or 6:00-8:00 p.m. ET.

Additionally, two of Tennessee’s SEC games are in specific non-flex windows. Tennessee’s road game at Kentucky is in the “night” window (6-8 p.m.) while the Vols’ regular-season finale against Vanderbilt is in the “afternoon” window (3:30-4:30 p.m.).

The only confirmed SEC matchup time is Tennessee’s Week 3 contest against Georgia in Knoxville, which is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

As seen above, five of Tennessee’s eight SEC games are in the flex window: at Mississippi State, Arkansas, at Alabama, Oklahoma, and at Florida. Two of Tennessee’s games have a general window, with the Vols’ road contest against Kentucky being in the night window and their home game against Vanderbilt in the afternoon window.

According to UT Sports, the times for games involving a window (flex, afternoon, or night) will be confirmed no later than six days prior. Stay tuned to Rocky Top Insider each week throughout the season for confirmed times as the SEC figures out the best way to put their games on television.

It is noteworthy to look at the potential ways this thing could shake out, though. Ultimately, based on the windows given, Tennessee could cap out at just two night games in Neyland Stadium this year (Arkansas, Oklahoma) with the Georgia and Vanderbilt games already set for the afternoon. Meanwhile, the Vols could play up to four night games on the road (Mississippi State, Alabama, Kentucky, and Florida).

Compared to last year, Tennessee had three guaranteed night games in Neyland Stadium when the 2024 windows were announced: Kent State, Kentucky, and Mississippi State.

“An advantage with SEC is that ESPN will be the exclusive rights holder, allowing us to utilize all of our platforms to maximize flexibility of games,” the SEC’s official website states in a FAQ section. “Games will continue to air in the early afternoon, late afternoon and in primetime windows throughout the season. More game windows will be known prior to the start of the season, while still preserving an adequate level of week-to-week flexibility that has long been a pillar of college football’s growth and success on television.”

Wednesday’s release also gives Tennessee fans an exact time for two non-conference games this season. The Vols will host UAB on Sept. 20 at 12:45 p.m. ET and will host New Mexico State in a Homecoming matchup at 4:15 p.m. ET on Nov. 15.
