Four-star cornerback Zyan Gibson is currently the second highest rated commit in Alabama football’s recruiting class. But his commitment may not be completely safe.

Gibson is officially visiting Tennessee football this weekend as the Vols continue to push for the talented prospect to flip his commitment, On3 reported Tuesday afternoon.

Gibson ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 46 player nationally according to the 247sports composite rankings. The Gadsden native ranks as the No. 4 player in the state of Alabama and the No. 3 cornerback in the country in the 2026 recruiting class.

Tennessee hosting Gibson this weekend is not the start of its attempt to flip the blue-chip recruit. Gibson unofficially visited Tennessee in March for spring practice. Josh Heupel and his staff were actively recruiting the cornerback before he committed to Alabama in December, hosting him on an unofficial visit the weekend of the Alabama game last October.

The Vols aren’t the only school looking to flip Gibson from Alabama. The 6-foot, 174-pound cornerback officially visited Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss last weekend.

While there are some positive signs for Tennessee football to flip Gibson, it will certainly be a tough task. For one, Gibson is a Gasden native and lives just 120 miles away from Tuscaloosa. Gasden is nearly halfway between Birmingham and Chattanooga, making it 206 miles from Knoxville.

Tennessee football’s recruiting class currently contains eight commitments but none of them are from defensive backs at this point. The Vols’ eight commit recruiting class currently ranks No. 35 nationally and No. 8 in the SEC according to the 247sports team rankings.

Alabama’s recruiting class currently contains just six commitments and ranks No. 48 nationally and No. 12 in the SEC according to 247sports.
