California second baseman transfer Jarren Advincula begins a visit with Tennessee baseball Thursday, KnoxNews Mike Wilson first reported and a source confirmed to RTI.

A rising junior, Advincula hit .342 with six home runs, 17 doubles and 33 RBIs last season for the Bears. Advincula slashed .342/.410/.506 while posting a 10.9% strikeout rate and 8.3% walk rate. Perhaps the most impressive part of his sophomore season is the amount of damage Advincula did in ACC play, hitting .341 with three homers and nine doubles in 30 conference games.

The Santa Clara native hits left handed while throwing right handed. While he exclusively played second base for Cal last season, he is capable of playing multiple spots on the infield.

Advincula is the fourth transfer to visit Tennessee baseball this week since the Vols’ 2025 season ended in the super regionals. The other position player to visit Tennessee this week is Seton Hall outfielder Aiden Robbins who hit .438 with five home runs, 16 doubles and 33 RBIs for the Pirates last season.

More From RTI: ETSU Transfer Brady Frederick Talks Committing To Tennessee Baseball

But to this point, most of Tennessee focus in the transfer portal has been on the mound. Big South Pitcher of the Year Clay Edmondson, SoCon Pitcher of the Year Brady Frederick, Kennesaw State’s Bo Rhudy and MIT’s Mason Estrada account for the Vols’ four commitments in the transfer portal to this point.

Rutgers weekend starter Landon Mack began a visit with Tennessee Tuesday night after posting a 6-5 record, 4.03 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 80.1 innings pitched. He totaled 70 strikeouts for a 20% strikeout rate while posting a fantastic 4.9% walk rate in his freshman season.

The Vols also hold a commitment from Matt Barr, the top junior college pitcher in the country. Edmondson, Barr and Estrada are all eligible for the 2025 MLB Draft. Barr and Edmondson are both major draft risks. Barr ranks in the top 200 of the MLB Pipeline draft prospect rankings while Edmondson is a submarine pitcher with a mid-90s fastball making him attractive to professional baseball.
